I'm 53 in 2010, married, and trying this as an experiment ... can I show the discipline to do this at this age?
As of now, my answer is no, after almost seven years. It has been fun, but I tire of myself and what I have to say. But I keep this around, let my Twitter postings show up, and maybe post a nice picture. And I do read others pages.
Most recently, I was a reporter-photographer for a small weekly newspaper in Outagamie County, Wisconsin. I had spent most of my life in newspapers, but it's a dying medium that seems to want younger people. The last straw was spending a year-plus on half-time, with no apparently hope of going back full-time.
I recently published a book, collecting columns I wrote from 2000-2005. It's available at several locations, notably Lulu.com.
NOTE: The journal is friends-only for personal and professional reasons (mostly professional) but I'm very liberal about adding people if they add me. If you'd like to be added, leave a comment at this post.
To see samples of my photos and other trivial visual items, go to Flickr.com. A portfolio of my sports photos is at Photobucket.com
I've been married to my frail southern flower, the wise and lovely tweeti, since 1999. We met on the Internet, and if you're nice, I'll tell you where. I have a link to her LJ; she updates a bit less than I do, but if you want the whole story, that's the place to go.
I have diabetes (type II) and probably minor depression. I damn near got killed in an auto accident in 1978. If you really want to know more, go to my memories page for my 100 things you didn't know about me, my firsts and lasts, and the Infamous Killer Meme (all friends-only, of course).
I've started a community, bahf_inghumbug for people who can't stand the holidays. Feel free to check it out. And I'm one of the moderators at the journalists community.
We have two cats. Our current ones are Bikini, who we acquired at 7 months old in February 2008, and Tikit, who we brought home from the shelter in February 2009 at a year old. The other, Trip, died at 3 1/2 years in March 2008. He will never be forgotten...
